Borong to Bhanjang Trek

trekking in Sikkim
Ravangla (2100 mts, South Sikkim) is a popular tourist spot and the starting point of the very famous Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary trek. A few kilometers ahead of Ravangla is a place called Borong, which has gained a lot of popularity as a tourist spot in the last few years. Borong is a small quaint village with a few settlements consisting of simple yet amiable villagers. The gentle idyllic trail through the forest in Borong leads to another spot named Falate, a small valley that offers a magnificent view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range on a clear day. This trail, barely treaded, falls in the buffer region of Maenam Wildlife Sanctuary, which is the abode of several wild animals like Barking Deer, Himalayan Black Bear, the elusive Red Panda, etc. and is a paradise for bird watchers. This is the perfect destination for a weekend adventure or an easy beginner's trek in India. Here is the brief itinerary :-

•  Day 1 - Pick up from NJP Railway Station/ Siliguri. Breakfast enroute. Reach Borong. Explore the quaint and quiet village. Overnight stay at homestay.

•  Day 2 - Start early in the morning after breakfast. Trek to Falate and overnight camp at a valley called Bhanjang. Explore the surroundings. Birdwatchers can spend a quality time spotting and identifying the almost 150 different species of birds available there. Campfire at Bhanjang.
